It's Bath Time...Don't tell Rusty please.

Dog-Star Wash & Shop, Playa Del Rey, CA

Celebrating their 1 year anniversary, Dog-Star Wash & Shop, is this wonderful dog wash and boutique, right in our neighborhood of Playa Del Rey, CA!Groomer Sheena loves giving Rusty his famous  "Rock-a-doo" cut!  In between groomings, I give Rusty his baths here in the wonderful "do-it-yourself" basins.  Rusty loves getting baths here and they have a delightful array of clothing, treats (yes they carry Ruff Ruff Bakery) leashes, harnesses and TOYS!                                                                                                                                                                                                              Owners Jenny & Dave make you feel welcome and always have time for a belly rub or a good 'ole bummmmm scratch for Rusty!

You & Your Dog:

The Balanced Dog CA, the intuitive way to understand your dog.

Dogs survive through intuition, so once we understand how to tap into our own intuitive side then bridging the gap between you and your dog becomes a more natural or instinctual  way of communicating.  Brian Agnew, Owner, The Balanced Dog.

Folks, I personally believe in Brian’s technique.  He has taught me how to train and protect Rusty and myself too.  I have a greater sense of strength when walking and encountering other animals and owners.

Rusty's favorite  Dog  Walker:

MY PET-JUNCTION, Playa Del Rey, CA

Suze is Rusty's favorite sitter/walker when he is not with me on the road or at events.  Suzeis trained and certified in first-aid and is completely in sinc with her dogs and those approaching her.  I am totally at ease with Suze having Rusty and his, BFF-Remy when they are on their walks.  Contact Suze direct at, 1-310-913-1221 for complete peace of mind.

Your Pooches Home away from Home:

Grateful Dogs, El Segundo, CA

When you need a wonderfully run cage-free environment for your dogs, So Bay's own, Grateful Dogs Club House is the place to be!  What I loved is how they made me feel so comfortable that I knew Rusty and any of his pals are always happy and looked after with love and laughs! There are different areas for different dogs needs.

Grateful  has an amazing staff of dedicated and trained dog lovers who keep close eyes on all their guests. Having a blind dog, means that I am, maybe a bit over-the-top (okay stop laughing all of you that know me) protective of Rusty.

With the staff at The Grateful Dogs Clubhouse, I can walk away and know that Rusty is in an environment.  There is a minimum of 10 staff on hand daily and there is multiple staff on hand overnight as well.

By the way, Grateful Dogs has a delightful store and they even feature, Ruff Ruff Bakery treats!

Rusty's Vets: Western & Chinese Veterinary Medicine

Shane Vetenairy Medical Center, Marina Del Rey, CA

Dr. Shane’s integrative approach to veterinary medicine is a result of years of training and education in western medicine and Chinese veterinary medicine and acupuncture. Numerous pet owners seek Dr. Shane’s care as a result of her revolutionary approach to veterinary medicine.
Dr. Shane is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), and the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Personal Note:  I love Dr. Shane's approach to Vet Medicine.  With her help and guidance, I have finally gotten Rusty's tummy to a "performance!"  (and it's not Dr. Shane's fault that I over fed him when I started cooking...that's on me.....I'm mean Rusty "forced" me to feed to much?  no, it's all on me!)

Check out this excellent new Vet Practice and by the way, they also feature, Ruff Ruff Bakery treats!

Rusty's Vets!

Bay Cities Veterinary Hospital, Marina Del Rey, Ca

Bay Cities Veterinary Hospital is a first-rate, full service veterinary facility providing exceptional services for both Dogs and Cats to the beach communities of Marina del Rey, Venice, and the Westside since 1929. It is one of the most established veterinary practices in the entire Los Angeles area!

***On a very personal note:  When I had to make the choices to remove Rusty’s eyes, I went to see Dr. Milo at Bay Cities.  To say that both she and Dr. Fitz (Dr. Fitzpatrick) handled these decisions with care and grace is an understatement.  In the grand scheme of things, the decisions were no-brainers since his eyes did not work and only caused pain.  Still, it was hard.  When the second eye had to be removed in 2006, Dr. Milo found a mass the size of an orange in Rusty’s abdomen.  Dr. Milo was amazing and took incredible care of Rusty both during and after the surgery. I am forever grateful to Bay Cities Veterinary Hospital for their professionalism, grace, and understanding and love towards my little guy and towards me.

Protect your Loved One w/ Pet Insurance

Pet Care Insurance

I have Pet Care Gold, from Pet Care Insurance Programs for Rusty.  Please always have insurance for your pet.  In my opinion, Pet Care Insurance offers the very best programs for your pets.  Having a dog who has had both eyes removed, various cysts and tumors removed and other situations, you can only imagine the cost of the vet bills.  Pet Care Insurance is an excellent company to deal with.  They understand and help during very difficult times.

About Best Friends Animal Society

A better world through kindness to animals

Best Friends Animal Society is guided by a simple philosophy: kindness to animals builds a better world for all of us.

In the late 1980s, when Best Friends was in its early days, roughly 17 million dogs and cats
were being killed in shelters every year.  Despite the commitment of shelter workers to the animals
in their care, the conventional belief was that little could be done to lower that terrible number.

Best Friends' No More Homeless Pets campaign created a new vision: A grassroots effort to place dogs and cats who were considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs.  Since then, the number of dogs and cats being destroyed in shelters has fallen to approximately 5 million a year.  There has been much progress, but there is still much more to do.
